The time is rapidly approaching! Every year we get to navigate the software upgrades for two of the largest Corporations for Photographers, Apple (#1) and Adobe (#44).
Please understand I am not ragging on either company. The Fall is simply when each of these corporations bring out their latest software updates. Please read on and I will give you my humble advice.
Unless you absolutely need one of either of these companies newest features, my advice is, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. WAIT TO UPDATE!
Currently the latest versions of PhotoShop, and LightRoom are working pretty well, with the latest Versions of both OS X and Windows. Go ahead and incorporate all of those current versions.

Honestly there is really no way to find all of the bugs in todays expansive software programs, without introducing them to the public. Only then can all of the variables be worked out to find the bugs and repair them.
Very few companies are the size of these two corporations and they definitely do not have the software engineers on staff to completely rewrite say a Printing Program, to catch up with all the changes. This takes time. So wait!
The headaches you could endure, will not be worth it! Honestly I warn everyone of this all of the time. You would be surprised at how many don’t listen…
Once again go ahead and upgrade now to the latest versions of all software. OsX Sonoma, PS version 25.2, and LightRoom version 13.5.1… Then when all the newer versions come out I would wait till the bugs dissipate.
Fall is Coming!
This my friends is one of my favorite seasons! Why? Because Winter is my favorite and that’s next! ^_* Seriously I also love the fall color! I am currently camped at 8,135 feet. The temps have been dropping into the 30’s overnight and this will signal the leaves to start to do their thing.
This year I have specifically set aside some time to make sure I catch the height of the fall color. I even have multiple locations and altitudes already mapped out. I would do a PhotoSafari or two for others, but how?

Very few of you would be able to drop everything at a moments notice in order to come along. Also you would be pretty upset to pay for a PhotoSafari and not get the colors you wish. When things change, it typically happens fast, and one big wind can place all those colorful leaves on the ground.
So I’ll have to be happy shooting those fall colors myself or with my assistants and close friends. I would highly recommend getting out to shoot them in your area! The image above is from last year.
YouTube
Now I said before that I’m trying to get onboard with YouTube. This is something I never thought I’d do! However now a days it seems a necessity. FaceBook is becoming a real chore. Participation with my posts are dropping because Zuckerboy is not showing them to anyone, and ads are rampant.
Cloning and fake profiles are also on the rise there. You can no longer trust friend requests. Instagram is owned by FaceBook and so is WhatsApp. Cloning and scams are present there as well. So I’ve decided to place more effort with YouTube and my own website along with a small presence on FaceBook. Instagram for me is not really worth it. The demographic there is for the younger set.
I’ve made a couple of Videos. I don’t really like them, but this is very new territory for me. The editing process with Video requires me to learn new skillsets. Sound is another new frontier. However I’m enjoying the challenges.

Learning the back end of YouTube and dealing with Google stealing even more of my information is also a challenge. The Ad situation on YouTube is a bit more manageable, and easily removed with membership for the entire family. Also? YouTube is the #2 search engine in the entire world. YouTubes footprint is 2.7 Billion users. If only 100 of those liked and subscribed to me I’d be happy.
The Videos I’ve produced for my ByWinslowCampfire group have been very well received. All of my members have stated learning with me through video has been easier, fun, and they have progressed farther and faster than they ever dreamed.
Now on to producing better videos based on YouTube’s algorithms.
My International Client Base
This was also something I never even thought of trying to build. Back in the day I was exceptionally happy with my Yellow Page position. Who would want my services outside my current city?!? Well this has now become a reality.
Because I was based in Las Vegas for so many years, the transition has occurred naturally. Many of my students and PhotoSafari members traveled from abroad into the least expensive destination by plane from anywhere…(Vegas) I picked up a world wide clientele. I never thought this would happen!
I now have clients all over the world and can access them using the latest technology. This is totally awesome! Just this morning I was assisting a student in Germany, while I was on location in the middle of a two million acre National Forest! How cool is that?!?
I was amazed by this students image catalog! I can’t wait to see all of the cool imagery this student will produce! This is the part of teaching I enjoy most. To witness the progression, and their excitement.
Embrace The Technology!
Yes it might be some trouble wading through the upgrade waters… Be patient! That technology is rapidly changing, and those changes will definitely impact how much we will appreciate the end result.
I am personally excited to see it. I am excited to learn new things. I am also excited to be able to speak and interact with my clients all over the world, for the price of an internet connection. Back in the day, an international call would bankrupt my household.
Speaking of Embracing… I try and assist others with my Blog and Newsletter… Won’t you please assist me by liking and subscribing to my YouTube Channel? I only need 100 subscribers to certify my channel. It’s free, it does not cost you a thing. After I have that 100 I will never ask again for people to like and subscribe. You never have to come back if you don’t want to. (but it would be nice if you did) I would really appreciate it if you would click the link below and do so… There you will find a free video on what I think is the best way to organize a LightRoom Catalog. More Videos are on the way…
